Caress
| The caress is a soft, stroking of the man's cheek or upper body by the woman. It is one of the many options that make up women's "arm work." |
I appologize for this one. I don't think it would be typical in round dancing. |

Around-the-World
The around-the-world is done in tandem, woman in front. We bend forward and then rotate the body in a counter-clockwise circular motion from the hips. |
This figure has a kind of "caressing" quality to it, too. |

Still photos of extended movements are sometimes hard to interpret, but this maybe looks more like a lunge and layback, doesn't it? |

Body Investigate
The name and photos are pretty self explanatory, aren't they? We first ran into this figure in Ralph and Joan Collipi's Cecelia, a phase IV cha. The cue was, "she body ripple, he investigate," and over a full measure, she did her thing, and he extended his arms, palms facing inward on either side of her (no touching), and slowly lowered into his knees. It was a kind of "caressing with the eyes." Cute. |

"Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say, thank you for the music
For giving it to me."
