The amazingly fast Volkswagen in Bullitt
If you were making a list of the all-time best movie car chases, you would
simply must include the chase between Steve McQueen as Detective Bullitt
in the '68 Mustang versus the hitmen in the '68 Charger. So brand-new
muscle car hardware was showcased for the sequence. However, did you know
that the badass Charger passes the same green Volkswagen Beetle
four times? Obviously it too had a stunt driver inside, but
surely they could've picked a less conspicuous car.
The Charger eyes its prey, but Bullitt is too cool.
The Charger makes a break for it and the chase is on.
The Dodge passes the Bug. Seconds later, Bullitt sees the Charger
pass the VW again.
The Charger leaps past the Bug, but no use. The Beetle teleports
ahead of the Dodge a fourth time.
The Charger careens out of control. Voila! Hitmen a la flambe.
