specific issue fascism
SIF--as in SIFylis. A social disease sweeping the nation-- Specific Issue Fascism.
Anymore it just astounds me how many special interest groups nowadays who get on their bully pulpits yelling to the world how it should yield to their viewpoint. No matter how extreme, the world should bow at their feet on such-and-such an "issue".
Access to medically-performed abortions is a major example. There are groups out there who exert their efforts to criminalize it. Or it can be as trivial as a guest column I saw in the daily paper. Some man was bemoaning how many pickup trucks were on the road which blocked his view of the road. His solution: get them made illegal.
Hmmmmmmm. A whole nation should do without pickup trucks so this person has a satisfactory view of the road. If that's not a dictator (a very specific dictator) attempting to exert his will upon the land, I don't know what is.
There was a housewife on one of those semi-news shows making her case known how much she hated a certain comic book. Out of all of its issues and the number of pages per issue, there were a few panels which sent her postal.
Since she did not approve of what was being sold (potentially) to children, it should therefore be taken off the market.
Oooooooooo-kay, out of a nation of one quarter of a billion citizens, since one did not approve of a product, it should be taken off the market.
?
So let me get this straight: if anyone has a beef on any topic, they should get their way because, by God, once this is done, it will make America a better place.
That doesn't strike me as an especially American way of running a country and its inclusive orgs. Wake up. Stop being so narrow-minded in outlook. What's the big picture with the greatest good for all?
