the all-American pasttime
"That's not fair!!!!" anymore rings out all across the landscape.
We used to be a nation of self-determined, resolute citizens who did what was necessary to build a better life for ourselves. Be it pursuing an education to develop new skills, or joining the military to defend our liberties, or becoming politically involved; Americans used to have this knack for doing the right thing.
Not anymore. Now it's Whiner City.
Somehow the image of a pioneer crossing the vast prairies with his constenoga wagon and suffering a broken wheel which sends him into a fit declaring that he's gonna sue the wagon builders just does not quite fit the bill for me.
No, what happened was he made the best out of a bad situation and continued on his way.
So it's like this: life is not fair. Nothing, no thing, is fair. Learn to deal with it rather than hiding behind some frivolous whining. After all, it's not fair that:
Life is not fair. The most you can do is make the best life out of what you have been given and what you can develop.
Unfortunately, this attitude is seemingly rapidly falling into the minority. The "It's not fair!" litany rings out across the land.
As if said transgressions being "corrected" will make life better for all of us.
Oh, gimme a break, you whining idiots.
What happens is the supposed transgression ends up taking something away from ALL of us.
Small time example: a whiner complaining about Glamour Shots portraits of wives and girlfriends on display at work. Claiming that it's an aspect of sexual harassment with these "blatantly" sexual images on display. And a corporation, displaying the usual gutless group-think of all corporations, decrees that no pictures are to be displayed. No more "sexual harassment". But then also no more anything from a cubicle decoration standpoint.
Big time example: whiners complaining about truckers and railroads having low prices over routes where competition existed, but gouging customers on routes where the carriers had a monopoly. The whiners go to Congress, bend their lobbies/money-friendly ears and tadah! the ICC (Interstate Commerce Comission) is born to regulate said routes.
Results: the rates charged are now the same. Only it's the monopolistic high freight rates being charged. Thank you whiners. Keep up the good work.
It always works this way: when whiners complain, it's not more freedoms/rights/perks/whatever being granted to the whiners. It's actaully said perks being taken away from all of us.
Learn to recognize how insidious this practice is.
